FAQ

Does it matter what I wear to the session?

Not one bit, you could show up wearing a tie dye Spongebob Square Pants T shirt with M.C. Hammer parachute pants and no one would even know, so no judgments here, rock whatever outfit you want and come dressed as comfy as your heart desires, it will be our little secret haha!

How do I book a shoot?

Our website now has availability and booking online so you can see what openings I have for the next 30 days. Conveniently book online and pay for your session online to get on the calendar and fill out the required contract. I am also in the process of offering iris parties if you have a big group of family or friends interested in doing it with you we can arrange a place and time and do a custom booking. Also follow us on instagram and facebook as we will also post iris sessions dates in different locations as we travel and do vendor events, so stay in the loop!

How long does a session take?

Most sessions on average can be photographed in less than 7-8 minutes per iris if everything goes as expected or anywhere up to 10 minutes. However I like to book 15 minutes per iris just as a buffer. The process involves taking several images of your eye with different lighting angles and techniques to ensure great detail and focus. A lot of factors such as light sensitivity and your ability to open your eyelids wide enough unassisted will determine the length of the session. I recommend using your phone flashlight and a bathroom mirror to practice keeping your eye open while shining the light from the side so you know in advance how you will do at the iris session.

Do you offer pet iris photography?

At this time I only offer human iris photography as pets prove to be far more challenging. But should I ever venture into pet iris photography I promise to let you guys know. But from everything I've researched and practiced at home on my dogs and cats, it so far has proven to be almost impossible.

How old do you have to be for an iris session?

We typically recommend if you will be having photographs done for your children, that they be at least 5 years of age, it can be a little challenging as iris photography depends on as little movement as possible so it really all depends on how wiggly and how capable they are to take directions during the session. (I was a complete wiggle worm and out of control at the age of 5 haha so I know I would've driven my mom nuts if subjected to an iris session, but I am 99.9% certain your children are less crazy than I was as a toddler haha)

What is your typical timeline?

After your session is photographed, I begin the editing process of downloading the files and combining your multiple iris photos into a single digital image and that editing process can sometimes be quite involved. Typically on an individual iris image it should take me no longer than 1 week max to deliver the final edit, and if there are multiple eyes involved in your session or collage designs, those can take up to 2 weeks max. However I do strive to deliver the final edits much sooner than that, as I know both you and I are super excited to see the final product!

What payment methods are available?

I accept cash, venmo, paypal, cash app, apple pay, and also accept any major credit card via square invoices and check out.

Can I wear contacts during the session?

We strongly recommend removing your contact lenses prior to the session. With macro photography the lens will capture close ups of your iris in great detail and the lights will illuminate and reflect off the contact lens so it's best they are removed for the session

Can you have multiple eyes in one photo?

Any time you book more than one eye as a couple or family, you receive not only the digital individual iris photos, but you will also be given a collage of your irises combined in a unique single image design to showcase your eyes together.

Do you offer printing services?

I do offer printing and products for those who don't have a good print lab or knowledge of how to make quality prints from home because there is some prep work involved for sure. I offer a variety of sizes and print styles form luster and metallic loose prints, to framed prints, and even amazing fine art acrylic and metal wall prints. Your online gallery will include a variety of products you can order from and it ships directly to you.

I also offer print consultations for those interested in ordering large prints for their home or a collections of collage style prints. We will meet and review your images on my ipad where I am able to plug them into software that illustrates different print sizes and how they will fill the space on a wall, we can swap room styles and create the perfect fine art print collection that will draw the attention of your guests.

Can you photograph really dark brown eyes?

We photograph all eye colors! Macro photography and lighting techniques can reveal hidden details with dark eyes, because in everyday situations you usually don't get such a detailed view of them. With our lighting techniques and post processing skills, we can lighten even the darkest eye and make its sand-like pigmentation visible. You may just be surprised how much details are in those baby browns!

What size digital image is delivered?

The digital image that comes with your session is medium resolution enough to print up to 8x8 inch photos (2400x2400 pixels) and to share online. To make prints larger than 8x8 I highly recommend ordering prints through me as I will ensure your print order is prepped and compatible with the size you need.
